The listed building is structurally sound but the interior has suffered from years of neglect. Now owned by a Chinese investment company, the long term plans for the building are not known. The site is on the endangered list of the Victorian Society. Spokesperson Mark Watson described it as 'one of the great Co-op buildings in the country... it needs a fair amount of money spending on it... not pulling down".
